Alaska Beer Dinner: Cod, Ribs, Mussels… OH MY!
After getting some extra sleep, I went to the brewery to meet up with Jason Bullen and his two assistants Tom and Alex. Jason and I tasted through the lineup at the 49th. The crew has been hard at work and there were many new beers to try. Some highlights included the Belgian Birch, an amber colored Belgian dubbel which incorporates local birch syrup. Adding the syrup to the beer really enhanced the body of the beer and also created some amazing aromas that complimented the belgian yeast characteristics.
Later that night I attended the first beer dinner at the brewery. Chef Todd and his team did a bang up job pairing the beers with local mussels, cod and baby back ribs.
