First Ever Bottle Share
Last Tuesday was our first ever bottle share. It was more of a “soft opening,” as it were, just to see how it would go…and it was a success, to say the least.
There were about 10 of us back between the tanks, including both Sharif and Mike (our two brewers),a couple others from the Yonkers Brewing Co. family, Brett Diener and a few of his buddies from DeCicco’s and a couple local home brewers that have been brewing beer for the better part of 20 years. We tried some delicious brand name beers: Brooklyn Brewery Black Ops, Westbrook Brewing 4th Anniversary Chocolate Coconut Almond Imperial Stout, AC Golden Brewing Kriek, 2014 Alesmith Speedway Stout with Kona Coffee, to name a few.
We also were fortunate to try a couple homebrews: a Wee Heavy aged in a whiskey barrel and an Imperial Fruitcake Stout, both of which were excellent.
The main reason for starting this program was to give craft beer lovers and homebrewers in Yonkers & Westchester County a place to hang out, drink great beer and make some new friends in a brewery setting. The atmosphere was great and there were a lot of laughs.
It was a great way to test the waters and see how we want to set it up going forward. We have some kinks to work out, but our first one open to anyone interested will be on Tuesday, December 8th. We couldn’t be more excited to get this thing going!
Official details will be out between the end of this week and the beginning of next week, so you will be able to reserve your spot soon. We will be limiting it to 25 people to start, so as soon as the info goes out via newsletter & social media, be sure to jump on it. If last night was indicative of how much fun it’s going to be, I wouldn’t waste any time; it may be a month away, but time flies!
We hope to see a lot of you there in December; the Beer Culture Revolution in Yonkers is well under way!
